Services for Lawyers

Interviewing, negotiating and counselling, responding to the personal consequences of human behaviour and emotion is common ground for both Lawyers and Psychologists.  Members of the two professions are often involved with the same client, but working in isolation.  The Psychologists at Fulcrum Psychological are experienced at collaborating with lawyers for the benefit of our clients.

Expert Witnesses

We can provide expert witness opinion. In the event that an opinion is required on a subject beyond the knowledge of our psychologists, we have a roster of external experts in psychology and other health professions who could speak to your questions in court.

Trial Preparation

Our Psychologists are available to assist you in preparing witnesses for deposition in circumstances where anxiety, overconfidence or a confounding communication style are recognized as impediments. As well, in cases where expert testimony will be introduced from opposing counsel, one of our psychologists can brief you on psychiatric diagnosis, psychological testing, determination of disability or other pertinent topics.  Consultation is also available to critically review submissions by psychologists and other health care professionals.

Forensic Psychological Assessments

The Psychologists at Fulcrum also offer Forensic Psychological Assessments tailored to legal matters and conducted in a manner that will stand up to judicial scrutiny.

Forensic psychological assessments take different forms depending upon the legal question being considered.

    • Mental Capacity
    • Risk Assessments
    • Fitness to Stand Trial
    • Presentence Report

Our consulting psychologists have considerable experience, especially in the evaluation of mental capacity assessments for matters related to dependant adult applications including personal and property guardianship, healthcare decisions, consent for intimacy and testamentary capacity.
